Dreaming with God, Part II

So good to be back with you! Because so many of us are wanting to talk more about this whole “Dreaming with God” thing. I don’t blame us, right? Dreaming with GOD.

The thought of entering a new realm of possibility is exciting. And let me tell you, it is!

Until it requires waiting. Pursuing. Prayer. Time. Aloneness. Reliance. Surrender.

I actually LOLed when I picture myself telling God what I should be doing with my life and explaining to Him why. Now that I have kids, this picture is all too familiar. A tiny little finite being telling their Creator what they want and how it will go; its funny!

Except when we struggle to let go of whatever we’re clinging to, He doesn’t laugh. He just says, “If you want to come with me, you need to lay your things down. I’ll be here when you are ready.”

Matthew 16:25 says “If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me. For whoever would save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake will find it. For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world and forfeits his soul?

I think we want so bad to read this passage, and picture Jesus thousands of years ago alongside some dusty mountain trail, and think, man – that’s a great story. Inspiring. It’s kinda crazy to think that even with all this advancement and technology and virtual reality and competition and rat race, those verses apply to us. Today. You and me. These verses are not a history lesson. This passage isn’t for people who choose to be missionaries in foreign countries. Laying down my life, today. Me. You.

So, I started with something exciting like dreaming with God – then I lead you here. Ugh, you thought this was supposed to be fun. :) Let me tell you what it is, with God – it’s more than fun. It’s inexplainable. Walking with God will blow your mind.

The PEACE you’ll experience in the face of everything life throws at you.

The JOY in things that used to bring you down.

The APPRECIATION of things you used to take for granted.

The GRATITUDE for what you already have.

The CLARITY for decisions you need to make.

The THIRST for more of Him and less of what the world brings.

Being in tune with the Holy Spirit and seeking His guidance and receiving it? Whew. It can seem so incredible and far off and unattainable but guys, it’s what we were created for.

So what does laying down your life look like?

Well, when I asked God, can we start dreaming together again? He said “Sure, do you have room?” I knew what that meant.

He didn’t give me a massive concrete outline with dates and milestones. He didn’t answer all my questions. He didn’t solve all the business ideas and dreams I have stored up in the drafts (IYKYK). You know what He said?

“Let’s meet where we used to. Same old thing. See you then?”

And I know in my heart, writing is what brings me closest to Him. But it’s also what brings me closer to the world (introvert red flag). My flesh wants to hide and avoid anyone judging me, or making fun or questioning why I’m even doing this. But because I know and trust Him, here I am. No social strategy, no finances involved, no business coach telling me what to say or what time to post. Just me, here.

Telling you about my God and how walking with Him WILL change your life for the better, even if things get harder. ….Read it again.

Recap: Dreaming with God is exciting. It’s purposeful. It’s invigorating. It’s encouraging. But we can’t walk in the trails on earth and walk in the supernatural with Him. It takes laying down your life. It requires letting go; of plans, expectations, time scrolling Instagram and idols you’re bonded to – so that He can save you from those things and lead you to so much more. (And please know, it can be an everyday surrender.)

So now, after part II. I want to know who’s still dreaming with God. And I need part II of your own story – so I can follow and celebrate where He’s taking YOU!
